While President Trump fails to concede that he lost the recently held general election, leaders worldwide are pouring in congratulatory messages to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris for winning the 2020 elections.
This nod is a significant sign of Biden’s legitimacy and shift in focus away from President Trump.
Trump is yet to prove allegations of voter fraud or a “stolen” election.
The leaders of key US allies and major democracies such as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Emmanuel Macron, among others, have all extended congratulatory messages to Biden.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, leader of one of the world’s most populous countries, sent a warm message of congrats to Biden and Harris.
“Congratulations, Joe Biden, on your spectacular victory!” he said. “As the VP, your contribution to strengthening Indo-US relations was critical and invaluable. I look forward to working closely together once again to take India-US relations to greater heights.”
Meanwhile, there is no public reaction from Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran — regarding Trump’s loss at the polls.
