Windies Root Out England To Win Third Test

West Indies 297 (Da Silva 100*) and 28 for 0 (Brathwaite 20*) beat England 204 and 120 (Mayers 5-18) by ten wickets.

England had no answer to a resurrected Windies team as the boyz from the Caribbean ramped home by winning the third Test by 10 wickets in Grenada.

The win sees the Windies taking the series 1-nil.

This comes after England was left staring down the barrel of defeat on Saturday with a score of 103-8 at stumps.

The Windies woke up the happier team as they were able to bowl out the English team for 120, with the tourists losing the remaining wickets of Chris Woakes (19) and Jack Leach (4) inside an hour on Sunday.

Set a target of 28 runs to win at the Grenada National Stadium, Kraigg Brathwaite (20 not out) and John Campbell (6 not out) made light work of the target in a mere 4.5 overs.

In his post-match interview, Brathwaite said, “It has been remarkable… it’s a total team effort, I must commend everyone. In every game someone put up their hand and played a great role and did the job. We will learn a lot from this series, to show the fight and the attitude, form the get-go from the warm-up. It is for us to keep building.”

“The support here in Grenada have been amazing and I want to thank everyone for the way they backed up and showed their full support,” he added.

Meanwhile, England’s captain Joe Root reportedly said, “Throughout this series we’ve played some really good cricket, and shown what we’re capable of as a group.”

“We’ve grown over first two games as a batting group; we’ve shown big strides in that department.”

On the other hand, Joshua Da Silva was named Player of the Match, while West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite was dubbed Player of the Series.
