Australia’s bowling attack was in a no-holds-bar mood when they took out the Windies in the decisive third and final match of the CG Insurance ODI Series.
The visitors bowled with a lot of smarts to out the home team for a paltry 152 runs from only 45.1 overs.
The team from down under then brushed aside the target making 153-4 off 30.3 overs at their turn to bat.
The result meant the Aussies earned the bragging rights of taking the series 2-1 – they won the first match by 133 runs while West Indies bounced back to win the second by four wickets.
The Australian new-ball attack led by Mitchell Starc was again too strong for the Windies batters.
Starc, the over 143 kph left-arm speedster, took 3-43 off 9.1 overs, while his co-star Josh Hazlewood took 2-18 off eight overs.
Also, lending great support to the pace attack was left-arm spinner Ashton Agar, bowled 10-1-31-2.
He also contributed with the bat hitting 19 not out off 33 balls to earn the CG Insurance Player-of-the-Match award.
Left-hander Matthew Wade scored 51 not out off 52 balls, with five fours and two sixes, and shared a fourth-wicket stand of 34 with captain Alex Carey (35).
The Windies’ standout performer was Evin Lewis, who, after retiring hurt, returned to the wicket to score 55 not out off 66 balls with five boundaries and three sixes.
