West Indies Back Is Against The Wall As India Seeks Clean Sweep

West Indies 255 (Brathwaite 75, Siraj 5-60, Jadeja 2-37) and 76 for 2 (Brathwaite 28, Chanderpaul 24*, Ashwin 2-33) need a further 289 runs to beat India 438 and 181 for 2 dec (Rohit 57, Kishan 52*, Gabriel 1-33)

India was in a no-nonsense mood as they turned up the heat under the West Indies, aiming for another victory in the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan took the Caribbean side’s bowling attack apart on their second turn at the wicket.

Rohit hit a 35-ball half-century – his fastest in Test cricket – before a promoted Kishan made a powerful statement with a quick 33-ball fifty as India set West Indies a challenging 365 to overcome.

The West Indies went to bed at 76 for 2 on a Port-of-Spain pitch that showed signs of spin – a deadly weapon against the West Indies.

Barring rainy weather, India must fancy their chance of making it a home run on Monday.

The host needs another 289 runs to say to India, ‘Enough is enough’ as they wrap up the 100th Test match between them.

When play resumes, Tagenarine Chanderpaul will start from an overnight score of 24, while Jermaine Blackwood will continue from 20.

One thing is for sure, Windies batters have their work cut out for them, and only an extraordinary display of batting can save them from a whitewash by the Indians.
