Volcano Erupts In Indonesia, Killing At Least 14 People

A volcano erupted in Indonesia’s Java Island on Thursday, spewing hot ash and gas into the air and triggering a deadly pyroclastic flow.

The eruption of Mount Semeru killed at least 14 people and injured dozens more, according to local authorities.

Thousands of residents were evacuated from nearby villages, and flights were diverted from the area.

The volcano is one of the most active in Indonesia, which lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
