U.S. Unemployed Benefit Claims Fall

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell close to pre-pandemic levels according to the U.S. latest labor report.

The labor market recovery continues though a shortage of workers remains an obstacle to faster job growth.

The weekly unemployment claims report from the U.S. Labor Department also showed jobless benefits rolls declining to a 20-month low in early November.

The U.S. economy is regaining momentum following a lull over the summer as a wave of COVID-19 infections driven by the Delta variant battered the nation.
