Trinidad & Tobago’s Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, announced yesterday that carnival is still on despite rising COVID-19 cases.
He says the government does not intend to institute any additional restrictions and has called for greater responsibility among the population with the new sub-variant in circulation and daily cases forecasted to reach the “high hundreds” within the next two weeks on the current trajectory.
Prime Minister Rowley justified the decision to continue with carnival plans despite the rising infections by stating that he does not believe the situation warrants a cancellation and that people should make personal decisions about their exposure.
