Top American singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, continues to make the musical charts her own as she keeps churning out hits after hits.
Since her debut album in October 2006, fans seem unable to get enough of her, and critics continue to sing her praises.
Early in her career the Rolling Stone magazine described her as “bright-eyed but remarkably seasoned.” The New York Times in a later report said Swift is “one of Pop’s finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults.”
Swift has received many accolades including but not limited to MTV Video Music Award, Best Country Artist, The Nashville Songwriters Association, Songwriter/Artist Award, and numerous Grammy Awards.
In addition, she has sold over 26 million albums and 75 million downloads.
Born on December 13, 1989, Swift turned her attention to the entertainment business at an early age. She was later to become the youngest songwriter to be hired by a major publishing house.
As a precocious 14-year-old, she left RCA Records after their prescription for her to do cover versions of songs and an age wait factor before she could debut her own album.
In a recent interview on a 60 Minutes television show, Swift had this to say about her original label, “I would go and turn in songs, and more and 10 more, I would just get suggestions that I write – that I sing other people’s songs. And, you know, I just didn’t want to.”
Swift, not willing to play the waiting game and having decided to chart her own course, has since then had a meteoric rise in the music business.
At 22, she exudes beauty, woos fans around the world with her catchy melodies and lyrics, and fill arenas wherever she performs, a multimillion-dollar record seller and a chart-hit maker.
