According to the popular website caribbeanjournal.com, The Restaurant at Round Hill, located in Montego Bay, Jamaica’s Tourism Mecca,  is one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean.

“Jamaican food doesn’t get any better than this delightful restaurant by Chef Martin Maginley, who puts an emphasis on local sourcing and gourmet takes on local recipes,” the journal noted.

Run by Chef Martin Ian Maginley — winner of the prestigious “Chef of the Caribbean” award for two consecutive years, The Restaurant at Round Hill is viewed as the crème de la crème by diners both locally and internationally.

The restaurant focuses on elegant, locally focused cuisine. Standards have an upscale twist, like jerk chicken wraps, lobster-salad sandwiches with local seasonings, and plantain chips with a sun-dried tomato and olive oil paste.

Kids’ menus are also available, and unlike the great majority of Jamaican resorts, there are several vegetarian options including some with tofu.

The restaurant is sited on what Condé Nast Traveler describes as a “resort virtually invented tropical seaside gentility when it opened in 1953 to guests like the Kennedys, the Paleys, and various viscounts.”

Great people, excellent cuisine, unique settings, and stellar service all combined to give this restaurant the competitive edge.
