The Opposition Party Wins The General Election In Guyana

Following a dispute over irregularities for months after the general election in Guyana, the main opposition People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) has finally been declared the winner.

According to a report, Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield in a letter to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), gave the PPP/C victory.

The report submitted by Lowenfield noted — the ruling Coalition – A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), received – 217,920 votes; the main opposition PPP/C received 233,336 while 5,214 went to other parties.
