Looking for one of nature’s best, majestic, and beautiful cascading waterfall? Do you know where footage of James Bond film, Dr. No was shot?

Eureka! It’s the Dunn’s River Falls – reputed to be a Jamaican jewel and the Niagara Falls of the Caribbean.

The Dunn’s River Falls is one of Jamaica’s best attractions. Tourists flock to this site annually to while away the leisure hours of their vacation.

The famous waterfall is nestled on top of a hill amidst lush green vegetation, rich tropical foliage, and a canopy of trees. The path from the base to the top of the falls is about 600 feet high and is fused with sparkling, gushing, crystal clear water that is refreshing and as cool as a gently blowing morning breeze. There are also natural pools formed along the path as giant boulders create walls that restrict the flow of water.

The Dunn’s River Falls is one of the few waterfalls in the world that directly merges with the sea directly and creates a long stretch of beach of glistening white sands and shallow waters that allow for easy swimming.

Zealous guides who are anxious to demonstrate their skills in showing the way up the falls make climbing the falls easy. Moreover, there are naturally carved steps along the path up to the top that create good foothold for those who are not so fleet-footed.

The Falls is also located near Ocho Rios, a rural town that is sited on the north coast in the parish of Saint Ann. The town itself has developed over the years from a poor rural fishing village into a bourgeoning town with large shopping centers, restaurants, cinema, hotels, clubs, transportation hub, lovely beaches and other amenities that cater to the needs of the thousands of tourists who visit the area.

This is a place that one should never miss on his or her visit to the island.
