Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through (the whole day through)
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
With the two Senate seats up for grab following the election runoff in 2021, the Democratic Party’s victory was boosted with big wins in Georgia.
Now Joe Biden’s chances of signing ambitious legislation just got easier.
Some of his major agenda items in the presidential race include the following:
- fight climate change
- reduce economic inequality
- slow the coronavirus pandemic
- provide healthcare
- free education
- reduction of student debt
According to press reports, the Rev. Raphael Warnock has beaten Senator Kelly Loeffler by about 2 percentage points.
Jon Ossoff is set to defeat Senator David Perdue, with a lead of about 16,000 votes and the outstanding votes to come from Democratic-leaning areas.
The Times’s Nate Cohn, who analyzes election returns, said he believed Ossoff would likely end up with a lead of more than 0.5 percentage points — large enough to avoid a recount.
David Wasserman of the Cook Political Report wrote that he considered both races to be over.
