According to press reports, St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris said he had asked the Governor-General to dissolve Parliament immediately.

After dismissing several ministers, including his deputy, Shawn Richards, and Nevis Premier, Mark Brantley, he made the announcement.

In a radio and television broadcast, Dr. Harris said he would soon announce the date for the general election.

The Prime Minister was due to face a motion of no confidence that was submitted by six members of the coalition Team Unity government.
