Guyanese and West Indian rising batting star Shimron Hetmyer exits his IPL team Rajasthan Royals, to get home to Guyana on time for the birth of his first child.
With plans to rejoin his team, the pugnacious left-handed batsman said in an interview, “My stuff is still left in the room.”
“Shimron Hetmyer has travelled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child, but he’ll be back soon,” Royals said in a post on Twitter.
Royals is currently one of the top teams in the league, aiming to participate in the playoffs set to begin on May 24.
They have three games left in the league stage – Delhi Capitals on May 11, Lucknow Super Giants on May 15, and Chennai Super Kings on May 20.
Meanwhile, the player has made himself unavailable for the West Indies white-ball tours of the Netherlands and Pakistan starting later this month.
