Shellacking For Reggae Girlz In Gold Cup  Opener

The Reggae Girlz suffered a 2-1 defeat to hosts Panama in their opening match of the CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifiers at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City on Wednesday evening.

Ricshya Walker opened the scoring for the Jamaicans in the 21st minute, but Alia Keane turned the ball into her own net just a minute before halftime as the hosts drew level. Lineth Cedeño then netted in the 84th to put the hosts ahead – an advantage they held until full-time.

The depleted Reggae Girlz team which is missing all players from the World Cup this past summer, were suffering
their first-ever defeat to the Panamanians.

The girlz will next play Guatemala on Sunday at the National Stadium.
