After a dramatic come from behind win against the Windward Islands Volcanoes, the Jamaica Scorpions is seeking to up the ante against Barbados Pride when they clash on Friday in the third round of the Digicel regional 4-day competition.
The Scorpions has decided to bring in uncapped all-rounder Fabian Allen to replace young fast bowler Oshane Thomas who acquitted himself well with figures of 2-26 and 0-9 in his debut match against the Volcanoes.
21-year-old Allen is a former West Indies Under-19 player who bowls left arm spin and is a handy right-handed batsman. He is expected to be part of a spin tri-union against Pride.
It is predicted that the pitch will be a spin deck and Scorpions not wanting to miss out has brought in Allen to partner Nikita Miller and Damion Jacobs.
Captain Nikita Miller and Damion Jacobs earlier in the week combined to take 12 of the 20 wickets in their team’s 41 run win over the Volcanoes.
“I’m happy with the bowling performance. I think the two debutants (Reynard Leverage and Oshane Thomas) bowled really well, first innings and second innings and they started off well for us today [Monday] and that sort of set the tone for us; myself and (Damion) Jacobs to come in and finish the job. We are not batting well and I’m not pleased with that but top effort overall from the team,” said Miller after the match against the Windward Islands Volcanoes.
Jamaica with 21 points is currently sitting at fifth position on the table.
