Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz took a 3-nil shellacking from Spain in their opening match of the Cup of Nations at Central Coast Stadium in Australia on Thursday.
The Spaniards were in command performance controlling the game from start to finish.
Matie Oroz, Esther Gonzales, and Fiamma Benitez put their names on the goal sheet to place their team in a winning position.
After controlling the state of play, early Spain took a 1-0 lead through Oroz when a deflection rebounded from the crossbar and into her path.
Gonzales later scored for Spain on the cusp of half-time.
However, they did not stop there as in the 78th minute, Benitez put one more in the back of the net to put the game beyond the reach of the Jamaicans.
The Reggae Girlz could not get going as the Spaniards proved too much for them.
The loss means Jamaica is currently third in the four-team competition, just above the Czech Republic, who were blanked 4-0 by hosts Australia.
