“To prevent the omnibus situation from ever happening again, I’m calling on Congress to give me a line-item veto for all government spending bills and the Senate must end — they must end — the filibuster rule and get down to work,” Pres. Trump tweeted.
This comes on the back of President trump’s signing off on a $1.3 trillion package to fund the government until September.
The President had threatened earlier to veto the bill over its lack of full funding for his border wall.
Congress passed the measure to avert what would have been the third shutdown of the U.S. government this year.
Many of the president’s fellow Republicans railed against the measure, one calling it “monstrous”.
