President Trump Maintains Innocence Amidst New Court Filings

President Donald Trump continues to maintain his innocence by insisting that his 2016 presidential campaign did not conspire with Russia.

Trump came out today all “guns blazing” after court filings shed more light on the connection between members of his campaign team and Russian officials.

“AFTER TWO YEARS AND MILLIONS OF PAGES OF DOCUMENTS (and a cost of over $30,000,000), NO COLLUSION!” the president tweeted.

According to a filing Friday from special counsel Robert Mueller, Trump’s longtime lawyer Michael Cohen revealed that he courted Russia’s government official after conferring with Trump as early as in 2015.

As details of the filings emerged Friday evening, Trump tweeted: “Totally vindicates the President. Thank you!”

At the same time, Trump is implicated by prosecutors who noted that he tried to buy the silence of two women who claimed they had had affairs with him, saying he directed his then-attorney Michael Cohen to offer them hush money.

“With respect to both payments, Cohen acted with the intent to influence the 2016 presidential election,” the prosecutors in New York said.

Trump has often described Mueller’s investigation as a witch hunt.
