Scores: Barbados Royals 200-4 (Powell 67*, Cornwall 38; Drakes 2-37, Bosch 1-28) beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 197-6 (Fletcher 51, Bosch 38*; Ahmad 2-16, Young 2-54) by 6 wickets
At first, the Barbados Royals might have regretted winning the toss and asking the Patriots to take the first strike.
The home team, the Patriots, was in a no-nonsense mood as they took the Royals bowlers to the cleaners by beating the ball all over the park to pile up a massive total of 197-7.
However, the Royals were not daunted by the tremendous task as they started their reply like a team possessed.
Openers Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers took on the bowlers as if they were robbing candy from a baby in the PowerPlay.
Then came Captain Rovman Powell, whose batting could be captioned as “Murder he Wrote,” he displayed a devastating piece of power hitting that fans would want to travel miles to see.
He took his side home on his back with the fastest 50 in the Republic Bank CPL this season.
And when the dust was all settled, the Royals completed the second-highest run chase in Republic Bank CPL history.
Rovman Powell, with a destructive 67 from 29 balls, was all it took to help guide the Royals home with nine balls to spare.
