Pooran Plays Captain’s Knock To Give Windies T20 Series Win Against Bangladesh

The West Indies completed a 2-0 victory over Bangladesh in their T20 international series after beating the visitors by 5 wickets in the third and final match on Thursday at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. 

Bangladesh first posted 163-5 after electing to bat. Afif Hossain made an even 50, while Liton Das contributed 49.

Captain Mahmadullah also made 22 as Hayden Walsh took 2-25. Jamaica’s Odean Smith also took one wicket as did Romario Shepherd.

In reply, the Windies led by half-centuries from captain Nicholas Pooran and Kyle Mayers posted 169-5 off 18.2 overs.

Man of the Match and the series Pooran cracked an unbeaten 74 off 39 balls including 5 sixes and 5 fours, while Mayers made 55 off 38 balls including 2 fours and 5 sixes.

The two shared in an 85-run 4th wicket partnership. Smith could only muster 2. Nasum Ahmed took 2-44 for the Bangladeshis. 

The Windies had won the second match by 35 runs, while the first match was declared a no result after being rained out.
