Politicians Weigh In On The Shoot Up Of Club In Florida

Politicians on both sides of the political divide have been swift in their reaction to the news of the deadly terror attack in a Florida gay night club early this morning.

Christmas MusicPresident Obama in a statement said,” Today, as Americans, we grieve the brutal murder — a horrific massacre — of dozens of innocent people. We pray for their families, who are grasping for answers with broken hearts. We stand with the people of Orlando, who have endured a terrible attack on their city. Although it’s still early in the investigation, we know enough to say that this was an act of terror and an act of hate. And as Americans, we are united in grief, in outrage, and in resolve to defend our people.”

Other politicians started responding when it was first believed that there were 20 fatalities, but officials have now reported that at least 50 people were killed and 53 others were treated for injuries.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was the first candidate to tweet about the incident, which officials have called an “act of terror,” though it remains unclear if it was a domestic or international terror attack.

“Really bad shooting in Orlando. Police investigating possible terrorism. Many people dead and wounded,” said trump in his tweet

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton also tweeted her thoughts on the tragic situation.

“Woke up to hear the devastating news from FL. As we wait for more information, my thoughts are with those affected by this horrific act.” -H

Sen. Bernie Sanders called the shooting “horrific” and “unthinkable” during an appearance on “Meet the Press.”

“We have got to do everything that we can to prevent guns from falling into the hands of people who should not have them,” Sanders said.

Rep. Alan Grayson, whose district includes the area of Orlando where the shooting occurred, offered his thoughts for the victims.
