Countries in Africa are in a dire strait as they are running out of supply of oxygen.
International health agencies have warned that the growing crisis faced by many of these countries is leading to preventable deaths.
A doctor in Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland reportedly said that between five to ten of his COVID-19 patients were dying because of a lack of oxygen almost every day.
Many low-income countries continue to struggle to access oxygen supplies amid surging coronavirus cases with limited or no access to coronavirus vaccines.
A study published in the Lancet last month suggested more than half of the Covid patients that died in 64 hospitals in 10 African countries were not given oxygen.
