Opposition Parties Set To Form Coalition In St. Kitts And Nevis To Compete In Election

The opposition People’s Action Movement (PAM) Party in St. Kitts and Nevis has indicated its intention to join forces with the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) to contest the next general election.

This move comes against the backdrop of a request made by Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris to the Governor-General to dissolve Parliament with immediate effect.

PAM and the CCM had been part of the three-member coalition Team Unity government, with Dr. Harris’ People’s Labor Party (PLP) being the other party.

PAM holds four of the eight seats in St. Kitts, and CCM has all three seats in Nevis.

Last week, the Governor-General denied a request by six legislators to remove Dr. Harris as the split within the ruling coalition Team Unity government took another turn.
