Oil markets fell around one per cent on Friday, retreating from seven-month highs.
Brent crude futures were down 59 cents, or 1.2 per cent, at $49 a barrel.
Brent prices hit $50.51 on Thursday, their highest since early November.
U.S. crude slipped by 35 cents to $49.13 after reaching $50.21 in the previous session, its highest since early October.
