The U.S. president’s State of the Union address is tantamount to a budget speech under the Westminster system. It’s not only a means of reporting on the condition of the nation, but also allows the President to outline his legislative agenda.
Put another way, it’s a speech used by the President to set out his goals and plans for the New Year.
In the name of hope and change, people no doubt will be glued for the most part to their television set, listening for the President’s take on their pet item or favorite subject.
Some of these include:
- Health Care
- Race Issues
- Tax Reform
- Cyber Security
- Homeland Security
Now, what will the President say or how he will address the foregoing is anybody’s guess.
However, given the past utterances of the President over the past few weeks, one can only hope that his address will be one that focuses on middle class economics.
We all wait with bated breath.
