More Jamaicans Get Vaccinated Amid A Rise In COVID-19 Cases

More than 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Jamaica since the inoculation program started in March.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said Jamaica is on track to meet the target of 700,000 vaccinations by the end of September.

Meanwhile, the country hit a new record high for COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period on the weekend.

The island reported 929 new infections along with an additional 21 virus-related deaths, pushing the total number of confirmed cases on the island since the outbreak to 66,663 and the confirmed deaths to 1,504.
