Love In Paradise

Relationship In Limbo

“Hey, are you ok?”

“Yes, yes… I am fine.” Abe replied.

“Are you sure? You don’t look so good.”

“Just have a lot on my mind,” Abe replied. Abe had been daydreaming for so long that he didn’t even notice the office was empty, and his shift was over.

Love Will Make You Do Wrong“Well, if you say so. See you tomorrow,” his colleague replied.

The truth is Abe had something that he definitely needed to get off his chest. He wanted to tell Sasha for weeks; he tried to tell her, but every time he tried he would choke. He would often play out different scenarios in his head where he would tell her the bad news, but it all ended badly. The more he held on to the secret the more it made him feel nervous, the more his heart aches.  He needed to tell her, and he needed to tell her today.

As he made his way to the car, his phone rang. He took his phone out of his pocket and looked at the screen to see who was calling. It was a text message from Kayla asking him to stop by. His fingers trembled as he contemplated whether or not to go.  Kayla was his big secret, and he was yet to tell his wife about her. How could he?  How could he tell his wife about his secret he wasn’t ready to confess to?

A few years before he met Sasha, Kayla was the love of his life. His family loved her and wanted desperately for them to get married. They had been high school sweethearts and had been in each other’s life for almost all their lives. When she left for college, Abe was devastated, but their love was strong, strong enough to make it work. The long distance relationship was very new to them, but they were determined to make it work and live out their dreams of getting married and starting a family together.

Trips every month across the world just to share a few days together became the norm, and soon the desire to see each other began to die. By the third year of college, friends became the replacement and more time was made for their friends who they saw on a daily basis versus spending hours with their ears pressed against their cell phones.

As the months passed by, the love and the passion started to dwindle and soon they called it quits. The break-up was hard for Abe. He truly believed that they would have been together forever.  He had a few wild nights in hopes that it would help him to forget the pain he was feeling inside.

A few months later, he laid eyes on Sasha, and he knew he had to have her. He married her, and he was ready to build a family with her. A few months ago, he got a text message from Kayla.

This was the only way to get closure and much needed answers, he thought to himself. He looked at his phone and typed, “see you in 5 minutes.“
