Jamaica’s Romantic Somerset Falls

Jamaica is said to be one of the most iconic tropical getaways in the world — thanks to its beautiful natural scenery, warm climate, laid-back culture, a landscape that ranges from tropical rainforest and soaring mountains to rolling meadowland and dramatic coastlines.

Moreover, the country’s scrumptious cuisine, pulsating music, and the charm and friendliness of its people make the place unforgettable.

The island is also loaded with hidden destination gems which the average visitor will not find unless he or she is prepared and willing to do some explorations.

One of the many gems on offer by the island is the Somerset Falls — a world class exotic romantic getaway.

The Somerset Falls is located on a property in Portland which was occupied by the Spanish settlers over 400 years ago. Its many original aqueducts and dams built by them are still visible today.

The breathtaking waterfall is hidden in the rainforest, where the Daniels River rushes toward the sea in diverse cascades through a multitude of garden landscapes.

Several natural pools allow for one to enjoy a refreshing bath and have a relaxing and enjoyable time in the wonderful sunshine.

Additionally, one can also enjoy a boat ride around the falls, take a swim at the foot of the Falls, visit the caves as well as watch the collection of exotic birds darting to and fro amidst the lush vegetation, green foliage, and tropical flowers.
