Jamaica’s COVID-19 Death Count Passes 1,000

More than a thousand people in Jamaica have now died from COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health on Monday reported 14 additional fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,011.

Eleven of the deaths were recorded in Manchester, two in St. Ann and one in Kingston.

The Ministry of Health says the deaths occurred between January 27 and June 12.

Two more deaths are being investigated.

At the same time, 79 COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Sunday from 674 samples.

The country’s positivity rate is now 11.4 per cent.

The overall case count has increased to 49,356.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have declined to 128. Thirteen cases are critical.
