Jamaica Tallawahs Banks On Former Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara

The Jamaica Tallawahs have secured the services of former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara for a third season in the Caribbean Premier League.

Sangakkara was selected as the franchise’s marquee player ahead of Friday’s CPL draft in Barbados.

Kumar “Sanga” Chokshanada Sangakkara, the former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain of the Sri Lankan national team, is rated as one of the world’s leading cricketers.

He is also regarded as one of the Greatest ODI batsmen of all time.

Sangakkara has forged many formidable partnerships with longtime teammate and friend, Mahela Jayawardene, and holds numerous batting records in the modern era across all formats of the game.

He is second to Tendulkar in terms of most international runs with 28,016.

The wicketkeeper/batsman was a member of the Tallawahs side on both instances where the franchise has won the title.

The other marquee players picked up for this year’s tournament are Martin Guptill with the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Lasith Malinga for the St. Lucia Stars, Brendon McCullum for the Trinbago Knight Riders, newcomer Chris Morris with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and first-time entrant to the draft Kane Williamson with the Barbados Tridents.
