Jamaica — Over J$64 Billion Invested In Tourism Accommodations

Jamaicans Object To PNP’sTourism Minister Dr. Wykeham McNeil, speaking with a group of senior journalists recently touted the tourism industry as well as hinted at a single new investment project that could match the 2,694 new rooms that are currently being developed.

It is expected that this project will involve a North American investor.

Dr. McNeil revealed that, in separate investments, currently underway, US$500 million is being spent to develop 2,694 rooms.

He stated that the nine new or expanded properties include Azul Sensatori, Royalton Negril, Beaches Negril, Breathless, RIU Palace, RIU 6, Royal DeCameron, Royalton White Sands, Bahia Principe, and Courtyard Marriott.

According to figures released by the Tourism Ministry, more than J$64 billion was invested in other tourism accommodations for the period 2014-2015.
