India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the public should remain extremely vigilant as the country nears a total of 1,400,000 infections, with almost 50,000 cases reported in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned that the country is in for the long haul as the threat of the coronavirus is far from finished.
“The threat of the coronavirus is far from being over. At many places, it is spreading fast. We need to be extra vigilant. We have to bear in mind that the coronavirus is as fatal today as it was in the beginning. That is why we have to be fully cautious,” Modi said.
India is the third most infected country in the world.
According to the latest figures published by Johns Hopkins University, 16,076,713 coronavirus cases have been detected worldwide, with 645,192 deaths and 9,285,046 recovered from the disease.
