Indian Medical Student Killed In Ukraine

India’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that medical student Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar, who had dreams to return to India to become a surgeon, was killed in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Tuesday while stepping out to buy groceries.

The Ministry said the 21-year-old student died from shelling after a missile struck the regional administration building in Ukraine’s second-largest city.

He was in his fourth year at Kharkiv National Medical University.

Thousands of Indian citizens are still in Ukraine and are pleading to be evacuated after Russian troops invaded.

Meanwhile, India has launched an operation to get its citizens home but has been facing logistical hurdles.
