Gayle Ignored By RCB For IPL Match

Although he is within 25 runs of history, Jamaican opener Chris Gayle was dropped from the Royal Challengers Bangalore side for their Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against Kings X1 Punjab in Indore.

Gayle was replaced by South African AB De Villiers who returned from injury with a topscore of 89 not out in RCB’s total of 148-4. Mandeep Sighn also made 28 as Varun Aaron claimed 2- 21.

In reply, Kings X1 Punjab raced to victory at 150- 2 from 14.3 overs, thanks to Hashim Amla 58 not out and Glen Maxwell unbeaten on 43.

Gayle is 25 runs away from becoming the first player to reach 10,000 T20 runs.
