Christopher Henry Gayle, OD, the 39-year-old Jamaica, and Windies opening star batsman will head the quintet of Jamaican players that make up the Windies 14-man squad for the ODI series against India.
Gayle, the “Universe Boss” ruled himself out of the T20I while opting to play in the longer format of the game.
He will be on the hunt to put the Windies in pole position against India when the first ODI gets cracking this Thursday in Guyana.
The Indian team made a clean sweep of the West Indies in their T20 International Series following Tuesday’s seven-wicket victory at the Providence Stadium in Guyana for a 3-0 win.
The result of that series sees the West Indies losing their last 5 T20I on a trot.
With Gayle coming over from the Global T20 in Canada in spanking form, the Windies would hope that the talismanic batsman can help to stop their current run drought.
The other Jamaicans in the Windies squad include Oshane Thomas, Sheldon Cottrell, Fabian Allen, and John Campbell.
The complete members of the squad are captain Jason Holder, Carlos Brathwaite, Shimron Hetmeyer, Nicholas Pooran, Evin Lewis, Kemar Roach, Roston Chase, and Keemo Paul.
