Last season, Gayle played for franchise Barisal Bulls where he contributed a sum total of 139 runs with the bat in the four games he played.
He is expected to play for his new team in the latter part of the tournament which is scheduled to start in early November in Dhaka.
The 37-year-old Jamaican and 30 other foreign players have been signed up by the seven franchises ahead of the players’ draft, scheduled for September 30.
Vikings finished at the bottom of the points table in the 2015-16 season.
The franchise, however, is seeking to elevate its status and consequently have drafted other overseas players that include: Dwayne Smith and Shoaib Malik, both of who played for Comilla Victorians last season, and Rangpur Riders’ Chaturanga de Silva and Mohammad Nabi.
Other West Indies players set to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League next season includes Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder, Lendl Simmons, Kevon Cooper and 19-year-old West Indies batsman Gidron Pope.
