Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Donald Trump supporter, and adviser, reportedly said on Sunday that FBI Director James Comey “caved” when he reported to Congress that after reviewing Hillary Clinton latest trove of e-mails there was no reason to change his earlier decision reached in July.
“Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton,” Comey said in a letter to Congress.
However, Gingrich tweeted that “Comey must be under enormous political pressure to cave like this and announce something he can’t possibly know.”
Gingrich tweeted immediately after the announcement was made.
Comey had earlier sent shock waves in the Presidential Election when he sent a letter to Congress stating that new emails were recovered with regard to the investigation of Clinton’s private server.
