The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Dr. Ralph Gonsalves made history by leading his party the Unity Labor Party to the fifth consecutive term in office.
Preliminary figures released by the Electoral Office showed that the ULP had won nine of the 15 seats in the parliament.
This was an increase of three seats on the previous one seat majority Dr. Gonsalves had following the last two general elections.
It is the first time that a political party has won five consecutive general elections in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
