Canada defeated Costa Rica 2-0 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals Sunday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The Canadians were in a rampant mood with goals coming from the boots of Junior Hoilett and Stephen Eustaquio.
This means Canada is through to the semi-finals and will do battle against Mexico in the semifinal round on Thursday.
It is Canada’s first time reaching the Gold Cup semifinals since 2007.
The country last won the tournament in 2000.
Canada will be without captain Steven Vitoria and forward Lucas Cavallini against Mexico due to yellow card accumulation after both starters picked up a yellow on Sunday.
