British Singer Ed Sheeran Before The Court

British singer Ed ‘Shape of You’ Sheeran is challenging copyright accusations brought against him by the Oh Why singer, Sami Chokri.

Sheeran is accused of copying portions of Chokri’s 2015 song.

Sheeran sang before London’s High Court to prove his innocence and illustrate how the rhythm of his song is commonplace in pop culture.

He denied ever hearing Chokri’s song before writing Shape of You.

The pop track was 2017’s best-selling single and remains the most-played song of all time on Spotify, with more than three billion plays.

Sheeran has been unable to collect millions of dollars frozen in royalties because of the lawsuit.
