Briana Williams, the World Under-20 sprint double champion, heads the list of athletes on Jamaica’s team selected for this month’s Carifta Track and Field Championship in the Cayman Islands.
The Under-20 girls’ team also includes sprint hurdler Ackera Nugent and middle-distance runner Shaquena Foote.
The boys Under-20 team is headed by “Boys Champs” 800 meters record holder Kimar Farquharson, record holder in the long jump Wayne Pinnock and Carifta Trials 110 meters hurdles sprint hurdles champion vashaun vascianna.
Meanwhile, sprint hurdles champion Neil Matthew-Sutherland is included in the Under-17 boys’ side while Class Three 80 meters hurdles champion Kayla-Gay Clarke and 800 meters champion Kishay Rowe are listed in the girl’s team.
The team of 80 athletes will be conditioned by a five-member coaching staff headed by St Jago’s boys head coach Marlon Gayle. The Carifta Games will run from April 20-22 at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in the Cayman Islands.
