U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders announced on Tuesday that he will introduce legislation “for N95 masks to be sent to every household in the country.”

“All Americans should have face masks that will keep them safe. I will be introducing legislation tomorrow for N95 masks to be sent to every household in the country. This will save lives and reduce health care costs,” Sanders said in a tweet.

Government officials had advised the public not to purchase N95 masks early in the pandemic to save them for healthcare workers.

But with the special masks no longer in shortage, health experts say they are better than cloth masks in preventing COVID-19 infections.
