Barbados Set To Pay Millions In Arrears

Barbados is set to pay the CARICOM Development Fund BBD$14.4 million (US$7.2 million) dollars owed in contribution.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley gave this assurance when she addressed the fund’s eighth annual meeting for contributors and donors recently.

The Prime Minister argued that her government is committed to honoring its commitment to see the Caribbean continued development.

“Barbados will honor its obligations before the end of this second cycle in spite of being in an IMF program because fundamentally, our future is inextricably linked to a successful CARICOM single market and a single economy.”

Additionally, she said the Government was working with the fund to determine how best it could settle the arrears it inherited from the former administration.
