At least 17 countries have reported new confirmed cases of monkeypox. However, no associated deaths have been reported to date.
As of 21 May, 92 laboratory-confirmed cases, and 28 suspected cases of monkeypox with ongoing investigations, have been reported to WHO from 12 Member States that are not endemic to monkeypox virus across three WHO regions.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), symptoms of monkeypox typically include:
- fever
- intense headache
- muscle aches
- back pain
- low energy
- swollen lymph nodes
- rash or lesions
