The New Lady
He slammed the door, jumped into his car and sped off. That was the fifth fight they had since the week started, and they both were getting weary of it.
Everything was so tense between the two. It all started when she found a text message in his phone from one of his employees. What made it worse was that he started to work late nights at the office. At first she started to tell herself it was nothing, but she couldn’t shake the feelings she was having. Her intuition was telling her that he was up to something, so she started to search his phone for clues or anything that would prove her notion. When she talked to her friends about it, they only fed her mind with ideas, giving her more things to think about.
She sat down waiting for him to come home that night. She knew she was right; there was a little more to him staying at the office late that he was telling her, and she was going to get to the bottom of it. She decided she would prepare dinner as usual and bring up the conversation then.
He was extremely silent around the table. His head only focused on the food in front of him. His eyes never left his plate. Indicating that he was through with his dinner, he placed the knife and fork in the center of the empty plate.
“Who is she?” she asked. He knew she was upset by the tone of her voice.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
“This woman you keep texting on your phone. Is she the reason why you started staying late at the office? “
“Come on! I had a long day, and I don’t have time for this.”
“That’s the problem. You never have time for me anymore,” she said. As the words left her, she started to break down. She felt hopeless and empty. He didn’t try to comfort her.
He slammed the door, jumped into his car and sped off. That was the fifth fight they had since the week started and they both were getting weary of it. Feeling like her heart was ripped out of her chest tried to make an escape. She couldn’t stay home, not there by herself.
She needed to get away from all the pain, and she needed time to herself. She packed herself a small suitcase of clothes and headed to Pat’s house.
A few days later, she started feeling sick. She started to feel dizzy and threw up a lot. She decided to go to the doctor to check it out. She anxiously waited for the test results from the doctor. Thirty minutes later the doctor entered the room.
“Congratulations, you’re pregnant.”
